Project Partners

ATTA

The Adventure Travel Trade Association serves as a strategic membership organization for companies in the Adventure Travel arena. The ATTA is dedicated to raising the profile of Adventure Travel in the world travel market and provides valuable services, knowledge and connections that will help Members succeed in their businesses, thereby contributing to industry-wide growth.

BEST Education Network

The BEST Education Network is an international consortium of educators committed to furthering the development and dissemination of knowledge in the field of sustainable tourism. The Network accomplishes this by holding an annual Think Tank, during which, cutting edge research and case studies are presented and discussed, and research agendas and educational materials are developed. This means the Think Tank format allows not just for the dissemination of knowledge but the creation of knowledge through innovative group techniques.

CBD

The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD) was established to support the goals of the Convention, the product of the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio De Janeiro on sustainable development. The SCBD is a neutral organization based in Montréal, Québec, and is staffed by international civil servants that assist and provide administrative support to the Convention bodies.

Cleaner Climate is a specialist climate change consultancy providing clean technology solutions to industry as well as cutting edge, low-carbon programs for retail travel organisations and large corporate with current or pending compliance obligations. Cleaner Climate is headquartered in the United Kingdom with local offices in Australia, South Africa and Thailand.

Conservation International

Conservation International (CI) is a non-profit organization based on cutting-edge science, comprehensive partnerships, and concern for human well-being. With these three principles guiding CI, the organization safeguards valuable species, preserves the most important landscapes and seascapes, and supports communities that care for and rely on Earth's natural resources. To reach these goals, CI focuses on three strategies: dedicating the organization to innovation, raising awareness about conservation, and maintaining business-like effectiveness.

Comiturs

COMITURS - The sustainable tourism commission's vision is to group sectors interested in developing and promoting sustainable tourism in Guatemala, as a tool for economic growth both locally and nationally, as well as for conservation of the natural and cultural patrimony. Its mission is to generate a business organization for the sustainable tourism sector that undertakes joint efforts to promote initiatives that promote its development and support an effective coordination with government institutions, international cooperations and other representative institutions of the Guatemalan tourism sector.

Counterpart International

Counterpart International, established in 1965 has forged strategic partnerships in more than 65 countries. With 350 staff currently operating in 25 countries, Counterpart’s programs encompass humanitarian aid and relief assistance, health care, democracy and governance, natural resource management and feeding the impoverished.

ECODIT

ECODIT is an organization dedicated to working with governments, businesses, and local communities to promote environmental protection and sustainable development around the world. We believe environmental technologies and policies, as sound as they may be, are only as effective as the institutions and people in charge of implementing them. We place a premium on bringing people and ideas together to develop sound environmental programs, and on building national and local capabilities to implement such programs.

Expler Wood International

EplerWood International was launched in January 2003, by Megan Epler Wood, founder and past president of The International Ecotourism Society, to advise private business, government, international development projects, non-governmental organizations, and academic institutions on the development of sustainable tourism and ecotourism.

Fundemas

FUNDEMAS, the Business Foundation for Social Action (FUNDEMAS), is a foundation that promotes sustainable development through socially responsible business practices, entrepreneurial values and philanthropic initiatives. A strong advocate for sustainable tourism development, FUNDEMAS has been a member and collaborating partner of TIES since August 2006.

Fish and Wildlife Service

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is providing more than $2.7 million to support 52 fish habitat projects in 26 states across the nation. An additional $4.7 million in partner contributions, over $7.4 million in total, will go toward restoring and enhancing stream, lake and coastal habitat, as well as to improving recreational fishing and helping endangered species.

Gap Adventures

Gap Adventures was launched in 1990 by Bruce Poon Tip with the belief that other travellers would share his desire to experience authentic adventures in a responsible and sustainable manner. Since then Gap Adventures has grown from a one-man show to an award winning company of over 700 employees. Gap Adventures is a world leader in adventure travel, offering more than 1,000 small group experiences, safaris and expeditions on all seven continents to more than 95,000 travellers a year.

Google Grants

Google Inc. supports organisations sharing our philosophy of community service to help the world in areas such as science and technology, education, global public health, the environment, youth advocacy and the arts.

The International Culinary Tourism Association (ICTA) is a non-profit trade association that provides culinary tourism Community, Education, Development and Promotion benefits and services for its members. The ICTA also serves as a regular resource to media outlets that include the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, BBC, Newsweek, BusinessWeek, Forbes, Food Network, Rachel Ray, PeterGreenberg.com, Ariang Korea, and many others around the globe.

IUCN

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) helps the world find pragmatic solutions to our most pressing environment and development challenges. It supports scientific research, manages field projects all over the world and brings governments, non-government organizations, United Nations agencies, companies and local communities together to develop and implement policy, laws and best practice.

Native Energy

NativeEnergy is a climate solutions pioneer and recognized leader in the US carbon market, offering services that reduce carbon emissions to fight, global warming. Since 2001, Native Energy uses the distinctive “help build” model to support the construction of new wind farms, other renewable generators and carbon reduction projects. NativeEnergy offers its customers carbon-solutions consulting services and carbon offsets and renewable energy credits (RECs).

Planeterra

The Planeterra Foundation is a non-profit organization with a long history of supporting sustainable community development through travel and voluntourism. Community projects developed with the goal of empowering local people in Latin America, Africa and Asia, span the arenas of health, education, employment skills training, microenterprise development and environmental conservation. Planeterra’s voluntours offer travelers a hands-on opportunity to make a direct and lasting contribution while experiencing true cultural immersion.

Pocketweb works out of Australia, New Zealand and Germany and develops and provides technologies and solutions for Location Based Services (LBS) and LBS-enabled Social Networks including customized mobile applications across leading mobile platforms. In 2008 Pocketweb launched the leading geo-integration platform "Pocket Life" for mobile devices and web browsers which provides applications and bundled solutions for consumer and B2B markets.

Rainforest Alliance

Rainforest Alliance (RA) works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. Based in New York City, with offices throughout the United States and worldwide, the Rainforest Alliance works with people whose livelihoods depend on the land, helping them transform the way they grow food, harvest wood and host travelers.

Rockefeller Brothers Fund

The Rockefeller Brothers Fund was founded in 1940 as a vehicle through which the five sons and daughter of John D. Rockefeller Jr., could share a source of advice and research on charitable activities and coordinate their philanthropic efforts to better effect. John D. Rockefeller Jr., made a substantial gift to the fund in 1951, and in 1960 the fund received a major bequest from his estate. Together, these constitute the original endowment of the fund.

UNEP

United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations system's designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. The UNEP Governing Council reports to the UN General Assembly through teh Economic and Social Council.

UNF

United Nations Foundation (UNF), a public charity, was created in 1998 with entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Turner’s historic $1 billion gift to support United Nations causes and activities. The Foundation is an advocate for the UN and a platform for connecting people, ideas and resources to help the United Nations solve global problems. The UNF helps the UN take its best work and ideas to scale—through advocacy, partnerships, constituency building and fund-raising.

The University of Utah

The University of Utah and the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism offers the opportunity to study leisure theory and research, as well as applied topics related to the park, recreation, and tourism profession. With the vision to combine education and citizenship to enhance the quality of life for the world we touch.

UNWTO

United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is a specialized agency of the United ‎Nations and the leading international organization in the field of tourism. It serves as a ‎global forum for tourism policy issues and a practical source of tourism know-how.‎ UNWTO plays a central and decisive role in promoting the development of responsible, ‎sustainable and universally accessible tourism, paying particular attention to the ‎interests of developing countries.

USAID

USAID and the United States has a long history of extending a helping hand to those people overseas struggling to make a better life, recover from a disaster or striving to live in a free and democratic country.
