Map Controls

Moving the Map
Move the map by click on the map and dragging. You can also move the map using the pan controls on the top left of the interface. The arrows indicate the direction to move.

Zooming the Map
Zoom the map by using the "+" and "-" signs on the left side of the map interface. You can also zoom the map by dragging the zoom slider on the left of the interface.

Viewing a Marker
Mouse Over a marker to view the name of that marker. Click on the maker to view detailed information about that member. Once the marker is clicked, an Info Window will appear to display detailed information about the member. Use the tabs at the top of the Info Window to view different types of information about the selected member.

Selecting Layers
This map interface comes with three main layers. Select a layer by clicking on its button in the upper right corner of the map interface. "Map" layer is strictly streets, roads, borders, population names, and major waterways. "Hybrid" layer is the "Map" layer overlayed onto satellite and aerial imagery. "Terrain" layer is a elevation map with formations and vegatation highlighted. "Terrain" is the default layer.

Downloading KML
Users are free to download this map data for viewing offline in a KML browser, like Google Earth. To download the KML file, click on the KML tab. The file can be opened or saved to your computer. This data will automatically be updated from this system.

Member Markers

Using the Info Window
Once the marker has been clicked, the Info Window will apear. Use the tabs at the top of the window to select different types of information. Use the icons at the bottom of the Info Window to interact with the member information. User can comment, rate, share, and view detailed information about the members. Close the Info Window by clicking the close button in the upper right corner of the Info Window.

Linking to a Marker
Users can link to a marker from their blogs or websites. To link to a marker, click on the "Share" button at the bottom of the marker's Info Window. The URL will appear. Copy and paste this URL into your blog or website.

Connecting to a Member
Every member has a Connect tab in their Info Window. The Connect tab lists the social networksin which the member participates. Click on the Connect tab to view the member's networks. To view the member's profile in that network, click on the icon for the network. A new window will open and take you to the member profile.

Searching

Quick Search
The Quick Search feature allows the user to sort the markers according to membership type. Mouseover the Quick Search Button at the upper right of the map interface to view the possible member types. To show a member type, click on the name of that type. Users can select more than one member type at a time.

Advanced Search
Users may search records via the Advanced Search tab. Select a Category from the pull down menu. Enter keywords and/or location information to display members matching the specified criteria. The Keyword field is required. The results will appear below the Advanced Search form. To view a result on the map, click on it.

Browsing the Map
Users can browse this map system by panning and zooming to the desired location. Members that reside within the chosen location will appear as markers on the map. Click on a marker to view detailed information. Zooming in on a location will display more member types.

TIES has the right to remove from this database any expert who misrepresents his or her position with TIES, who garners complaints about their abilities or professional conduct, who is found to violate TIES' Code of Conduct, or who neglects any contract that was facilitated by this service.
