Welcome to the website of The International Ecotourism Society (TIES).

The following Site Terms (the "Terms") provide important information on legal rights and obligations related to the Ecotourism.org website (the "Site") and conditions on use of the Site.

Terms Revision Date

The Terms may be revised from time to time. These Terms were last revised on February 7th, 2011.

Disclaimer

The Site contains software, services, content, and advertising provided by TIES. However, some of the content of the Site is provided by users who submit or post content on the Site. TIES takes no responsibility for such content.

Conditions on Use

The Site is to be used solely for the visitor's own personal use, and no part of the Site shall be reproduced, duplicated, copied, sold, or traded for any commercial purpose without the prior written permission of TIES. The Site visitors that use the Site in any illegal manner or for any illegal purpose, in any other manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Site, or in any manner inconsistent with these Terms will be reported and may be blocked from accessing part or all of the Site.

In all parts of the Site that include interactive features (e.g. Ecotourism Explorer), users are required to respect the TIES mission and TIES online community's purpose. The Site users are required to follow these conditions, prohibiting the following illegal activities, including, but not limited to:

Interfering with any security feature of the Site.
Using any automated system, software, or device to generate and send unsolicited communications to or through the Site.
Collecting or harvesting any personally identifiable information from the Site
Using the communication systems provided by the Site for purposes of sending any commercial solicitation.
Uploading, posting, transmitting or sharing any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code designed to interfere with the functionality of the Site or to obtain any nonpublic information through the Site.
Harassing or intimidating any other user of the Site.

User Content

Each user of the Site is solely responsible for the content of the member profile (including image and biographical information), text, comments, and all other content that submitted to or posted on the Site by the user (collectively "User Content"). TIES has no responsibility or liability for the consequences of posting, publishing, uploading, displaying, or sharing any User Content. The user must only post, transmit, or share User Content that the user owns or otherwise has permission to use. By submitting or posting User Content, the user warrants that it does not infringe any intellectual property rights of another person.

The use of the Site to upload, publish, transmit or share User Content that is obscene, defamatory, or invasive of the privacy of another person, graphically violent, physically threatening, intended for any illegal purpose, or otherwise inappropriate for the purpose of the Site is prohibited. Violation of this agreement, regardless of the degree, will not be tolerated. If identified, it will be reported to law enforcement authorities, and will result in termination of the account of the violator.

TIES is not responsible for maintaining or storing User Content submitted to or posted on the Site. It is the user's sole responsibility to create backup copies of any User Content. TIES has no responsibility or liability for the deletion of, or the failure to store or to transmit, any User Content or other communications provided on or through the Site. TIES retains the right to create limits on use and storage at its sole discretion, at any time, with or without notice.

TIES does not endorse, support, represent, or guarantee the truthfulness, accuracy, or reliability of any User Content, nor endorse any opinions expressed through User Content. TIES urges all users to employ caution and common sense and exercise proper judgment when using the Site. TIES does not routinely review or revise User Content. However, TIES reserves the right to refuse to distribute or remove any User Content that does not comply with these Terms in its sole discretion.

TIES Content and Intellectual Property Rights

Except for User Content, all content and components of the Site (“TIES Content”), including but not limited to, the software, text, photos, video and audio content, graphics, and logos, are the properties of TIES, subject to any copyrights or other intellectual property rights. TIES reserves all rights to the TIES Content. TIES logos and all TIES product or service names are trademarks of TIES. All other trademarks appearing on the Site are trademarks of their respective owners, and the reference to them does not imply or indicate any approval or endorsement.
