National Extension Tourism (NET) Conference to be Held in Detroit, MI, USA, August 6-9, 2013

Registration is now open for the 2013 National Extension Tourism (NET) Conference with the theme, "Tourism – Building Lasting Relationships."


The 2013 NET Conference will be an opportunity for Extension professionals, university research and teaching faculty, students, tourism professionals and community officials to network and to learn more about the following topics:

  • Rural Tourism Development/Tourism in Resilient Communities

  • Agritourism—Local Foods, Farmers Markets, Culinary Tourism

  • Tourism Research and Evaluation

  • Community/Regional Planning and Development

  • Marketing and Promotion

  • Tourism Education, Training, and Certification Programs

  • Economic, Environmental, and Social Impacts of Tourism and Recreation

  • Nature-Based Tourism: Ecotourism, Adventure Tourism, Coastal Tourism

  • Heritage and Cultural Tourism

The Keynote speaker will be Ted Lee Eubanks (Founder and President of Fermata Inc.), and additional speakers include George Zimmermann (VP of Travel Michigan), James M. Falk (Associate Director of Delaware Sea Grant), and Craig Wood of the Extension Foundation.
