About Us
Ibex Expeditions is India's pioneering adventure travel company established in 1979. Three decades later, Ibex is an outstanding leader with 4 international awards including the PATA Gold Award and the Green Globe Distinction Award for environmental excellence. Ibex are tailor made specialists in the area of eco tours, adventure holidays, cultural journeys,safari and luxury travel in India with Responsible travel ethics. Ibex also arranges extension holidays to Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet and Sri Lanka. Ibex Expeditions is owned by Mandip Singh Soin, a mountaineer & explorer and his wife, Anita Singh Soin, an avid adventure travel and writer. Together, they bring new ideas and energy in their journeys with a high percentage of repeat clients, who eventually become friends.
Sustainability Practices
We abide by the Himalayan Environment Trust's code . Every client is made aware of these guidelines prior to every trip and includes getting back all non bio degradable garbage , not camping less than 100 ft from fresh water ,using solar equipment .
We are involved in advocacy roles as Founder President of The Ecotourism Society of India , Chair of PATA India chapters environment & ecotourism committee and get involved in giving time to workshops ,seminars & conferences as a Resource person and try to lead by example. We try to ensure the earning trickles down to the last person in the supply chain of local communities who we involve in our operations.
Using local guides and giving tailor made experiences of places and people we know is a special for the guests and using homestays where relevant is useful to the local communities for their livelihoods. We give the option of several NGO's to receive donations from our clients for the sake of conservation or women & child development.
We encourage visits to NGO's during a tour and encourage the buying of the crafts of the local communities. They become our suppl chan and we train them to be our cooks and guides and also as Naturalists I head many committees that are also interfacing with the Government agencies and often engage in exchanges of best practices around the world.
