EcoCamp Patagonia

  • About Us

Ecocamp Patagonia is located in the heart of Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, with a unique view of the majestic granite towers. The region’s first fully sustainable accommodation south of the Amazon and the first of its kind in the Patagonian wilderness, EcoCamp offers upscale camping in geodesic domes inspired by the region’s ancient nomadic inhabitants. Guests enjoy trekking through scenic landscapes past rivers, moutains and Patagonian wildlife, and later relaxing in EcoCamp's domes with delicious food and wine.

Guests sleep in cozy domes which are immersed in nature, resistant to the Patagonian elements and have ceiling windows to look up at the starry night sky. Standard Domes are the world's first Geodesic hotel room and provide snug protection from the Patagonian winds. Suite Domes are equipped with a wood stove, private bathroom and terrace while Superior Domes have gas heating and a private bathroom.

    Sustainability Practices

EcoCamp has gained an award-winning reputation for its eco-friendly policies and innovative use of green technology. We are leaders in environmentally responsible travel to areas of fragile natural resources and we minimise the footprint of every visitor in Torres del Paine National Park through our careful development strategy and implementation of green technology. Our low impact design and focus on raising guests’ awareness of how to care for their environment highlights our commitment to a greener present and future for tourism. Conservation is central to the philosophy driving our operations and we have been certified as complying with the highest international standards of environmental management, including ISO14001 (the only hotel in Patagonia or Chile currently holding this certification).

All domes are designed and constructed to cause minimal impact on the terrain and to provide efficient thermal insulation and wind protection. Our premise from the start has been to take comfort to the limits of what is sustainable and environmental conservation will always be prioritised over any luxurious amenities or practices which could be detrimental to the park.

Community domes are connected to sleeping quarters via raised open walkways which minimise foundations, excavations and terrain disruption and allows animals to roam around freely underneath. All bathrooms at Ecocamp have a high-tech composting chamber - the first in the hotel industry in the whole of Chile and Patagonia. Green technology is constantly tested and installed and all of EcoCamp’s energy comes from a micro-hydro turbine and from solar panels.
