Amerika Venture Ecotours

  • About Us

Cultural small group ecotours in Latin America...

Founded in 1996 the company started out in the fabulous territories of Mesoamerica, already well known to the founders who had explored and lived in its various countries during preparatory trips. The initial objective was, and remains today, the promotion and the development of a more ethical and truly "eco" type of tourism focused on the understanding and recognition of the importance of the environment and cultures of the continent: a true encounter with the Americas and its people, wildlife and fauna.

A keen desire to position on solid basis an international organization able to meet this mandate across the entire Latin American territory motivated the founders so, that soon, after a few years of modest activities, their work had brought several of the best tour guides of the Americas to join their polyglot multidisciplinary team. The reputation of the company developed as its operations brought it to the four corners of the continent...

    Sustainability Practices

Amerika Venture supports local development projects and greenhouse gas offset projects across the Americas. Our whole approach is about watching, meeting, studying and understanding better the local environment and its people / cultures. Our team of experienced and knowledgeable tour conductors & guides are local naturalist residents and local cultural guides, they are passionate about the natural environment, the history, the cultures and the people of their country and this passion is what they offer you, the traveller. We use local services and providers everywhere we travel, this is at the heart of our mission and mandate and this includes lodges inns, restaurants and guides. Amerika Ventures is dedicated to bringing you, the visitor, closer to the local community to allow you to share, with the locals, as much as possible and truly learn about them and their natural environment. Of course, Amerika Venture enforces a "leave no trace" policy on all its trips. Most of our trips are largely focused on wildlife watching and fauna studying. In a variety of direct and complex ways, the money we spend (the money the travelers spend), ultimately lead to nature conservation as the reason for our (lucrative) presence in all the places we visit is "nature". Nature then becomes a local resource we pay for. The result is more conservation, no matter what people will say. We have contributed to studies on the subject in the past in a verity of ways (papers, masters and documentaries) and have carefully studied the question, the bottom-line is: our tours go where nature is preserved and respected, our activities finance conservation. Amerika Venture also directly finances land purchases for conservation in Costa Rica and Mexico and we are expecting to invest more in land conservation in the future in the counties of Ecuador and Brazil. We pay all our staff and providers, local and foreigners, the fair salary / price (and often more), this is part of our mission and principals. We also finance local development projects in every country we operate. We work a lot with small local organizations and communities and many of our tours are tailored for students and scientists; education is at the center of our mission (as well):-)
